The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable promotes the growth of the outdoor recreation economy and outdoor recreation activities. The difference, said state officials, comes from the state report’s inclusion of more activities, like using urban hiking and biking trails and parks, and builds on previous surveys as part of Colorado’s Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.

Programs include climbing at Genesee Ropes Course, group hiking in the mountains, teambuilding programs, stand up paddleboarding, adventure programs and more. For Outdoor Recreation Management students, the “classroom” is often what is beyond the walls of Lees-McRae. The majority of courses have a field component, with skills courses such a rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, hiking and backpacking exclusively taking place in the field.
